Hi guys!
Hi bought a new LE40M86BD and it's great! But actually I am encountering one issue using my PS2!
I have connected it via component but I see all the games like in "poor resolution" and all the colours are completely turned on a sort bad pink level!
Could anybody help me to understand/solve this issue?

HI thanks to the HDTV TEST team for letting me make an excellent choice on my TV.

I do plan on making a donation some time soon!

I ordered my m86 on  the last bank holiday just gone, from currys got a terrific deal with dvd recorder and a matching black glass stand and a hdmi cable for my ps3 for just under £1200.

I was waiting for my tv to arrive the following Friday i took a day off work.

It didint come!! >:( >:( >:(

Then they said they would deliver it on Monday, so i took another day off work,  i set my stand up and awaited the delivery guy, he came with a TV to the door and placed it inside and asked me to sign, i was just about to when i said let me just check the model number.

To my horror he was trying to offload me an R88.

The R88 had a sticker with someone elses name and address on it.

Then he tried to convince me that the R88 was a better model than the one i had ordered and i should take this,  i argued with him that it was not better than the r88 but also about £200 cheaper, he claimed he had done this for many years and he knew his tv sets and i was getting a better model.

I told him to get me my tv the M86, he had obviously just delivered my set to the person expecting the R88!! He rang the guy who he had just delivered my M86 to and that guy said that he had the right TV and prompltly hung up on the delivery guy!!

Anyway 2 weeks on i am still waiting for my M86  :( :( :( No delivery date nothing... you just dont expect that from a store like currys.

Thanks to this website i wasnt duped by the TV delivery Guy,

Thank you Colin and Vincent.

Just make sure you are getting the right TV from the delivery guy, once you sign theres no going back!!!

;D I'm sorry but I cracked up with laughter after that piss poor attempt to offload the `superior' R88. You did the right thing. No way in hell the R88 is better than the M86.

I just hope that you get your thing sorted soon.

Not sure if I have posted in the right thread but I need to see if there is a problem with my new 40" M87.

Basically I have a Xbox 360 connected using a HD VGA cable which is running at 1920  * 1080 @ 60 HZ using the PC input.

When I turn the Xbox on and off, all is normal. However when it is turned on and then turned off and then back on again, during the xbox boot the TV seems to go to Standby and the on/off button indicator light on the TV flashes. However when the Xbox has booted to the logo or I change channels the TV is normal.

Other connections via HDMI / Component do not perform the same. Is this normal?

Regards.

Hi KSSNARC,

Firstly I echo your comments about this website and Colin and Vincent.

Secondly your story might have been funny if it was a one off but unfortunately I have had the exact same experience with Currys, right down to the failed deliveries and having a R88 incorrectly delivered and being given the hard sell about it being a better tv. I ordered the M86 back at the beginning of May and I am still waiting to this day to receive it after two failed deliveries!

Up until now I had been prepared to accept I was an unlucky consumer but it is shocking that this is happening elsewhere and I will be writing to Consumer Direct and trading standards as well as Currys.

I wonder if there is some bigger problem at Currys?

AVOID CURRYS AT ALL COSTS

Hi thankyou for the Advice, I have been looking at LCD TV and I am due to buy one this week I went in my local currys On Saturday to have alook at the  LE40M86BD but they did not have one to show, but said they had 51 showing in stock for delivery and would match the web price of £1087.00 but I am also not keen on Currys looking into it further  with there warrenty of 9.99 a week then the tv became £16864 using there warrenty for 5 years cover
Another local retailer could do me the M87 for £1365.00 with 5 years warrenty

Hi Angel - your issue might be due to 2 things. Either you connected your plugs wrong (it happens with component a lot, since you often get 2 red plugs), or you need to set your PS2 to YPrPb and not RGB in the display settings. IF you ran your PS2 via scart before, it most certainly will be in RGB. Hope this helps.

A couple of things ....

The freeview judder issue does not appear to have been mentioned on here (I may have missed it) but it is currently affecting 2 in 3 roughly on this poll 34 out of 52 votes.

Also on a much happier note, thought you might be interested in claims from Italy that their latest firmware 1013 on the Samsung M86 allows the PS3 to display Blu-Ray movies at 1080p24 !!!

This follows a clever German bloke proving it could be done on the M87 via PC a few weeks back.

Hi, I am from Holland and overhere whe only have the Samsung LE40M86B, can somebody tell me what the difference is between
the Samsung LE40M86B and the Samsung LE40M86BD???
On the Samsung site they don't mention the Samsung M86B anymore. You can only find information about the Samsung M86BD.
Does anyone know the reason why and the difference between these 2 televisons?
Am I about to buy something that is already "old"?

He kerel ik kom ook uit Holland dus lijkt me in het Nederland makkelijker. Ik heb ook een M86 B besteld en op de doos staat LE40M86BD. Volgens mij bestaat er geen M86b. Dus wat je besteld zal een BD zijn.

Went to my local Comet store ready to but this TV. They told me that there was an inherent flaw in that Samsungs have a habit of flickering on and off every couple of minutes, which I have to say I did witness in the store. I asked them whether it was their multi-TV set up that was causing it but they denied that it was. Has anyone had this problem when they've got one home?

I have been looking over all the reviews in order to purchase an 40LCD ,  I do not use tv for any games, just normal tv .films , some dvd and sport. I have been trying to decide if /1920x1080p is a really a must have,so the question is do I need it for my use,or will a lesser 1366x 768 as an example and very much cheaper be the one to purchase. I like the Samsung le40m86bd 1080p or a Samsung  with 1366x768 , any ideas>>?
