I have just spoilt myself and bought a nice new Sony. The question is what HD DVD player do i buy to compliment it? Some people suggest i get the HD DVD xbox 360 'add on' as this is ment to be quite good given the price, £130 or thereabouts. Or should i stick with a proper DVD player, blu ray?=too much money at this moment. I would like a matchine to get the best out of the 1080p picture.

Hi neil, I have a xbox hd-dvd drive and the picture and sound is great. It can be noisy in use attached to the xbox 360 though. However, as part of a home entertainment system I would recommend the Toshiba HD-XE1

Another alternative would be the cheaper HD E1... can be had for around £200 nowadays.

The HD-E1 is cheaper but its 1080i not 1080p

Thanks for your replys. I would prefer to get SKY HD first before shelling out that kinda cash.

If you're really hell bent on getting the cheapest 1080p high-definition player, I'd suggest that you sell your Xbox 360 and use the proceeds to fund a PS3. Looking around I think you can get one without extras for £350.
