LC42xd1ea and xbox 360 Elite
« on: 06 September 2007, 06:42:40 PM »
I was considering buying the xbox elite which would then allow me to connect to my lc42xd1ea via a HDMI cable. The query I have is that if I do this, will I be able to connect to my surround sound system whilst playing the xbox elite? Hope you can help.

I am 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999% certain that you will be able to connect via optical output whilst playing with an hdmi connection. But a good question as I hadn't even considered it a problem! I'm sure microsoft have though.... surely... ???  :)  :-\

Xbox elite has a hdmi output but also has an audio output that connects to your surround system using RCA or Optical. The HDMI lead and the Audio out connector is supplied as standard but you need to purchase a RCA lead. You can also connect using the supplied component lead. Incidentally I dont think there is much difference between the picture using HDMI and when I used to use a Monster VGA lead.

Thanks for your replies. I bought the Elite on the weekend and it does support an optical connection.  8)
