TV to be delivered on Sat 26th.
I noticed that J Lewis still advertise the price as £1099 (on their online site). Is this a con for unsuspecting buyers?

When I visited the Edinburgh store to pay by credit card; the TV was still on display but all signs of a
price ticket had dissappeared. This may have been due to the chaos caused during the 'Clearance Sale'.

I think I've got a bargain and have ordered a Sony HDX970(250Gb) recorder to tape programs of Freeview/Virgin.
Amazon sell this at £219...but the downside is there's a 1/2 month wait on delivery!

In October I plan to get a PS3(in time for the dark winter nights). By that time; there may be an 80Gb version on
the shelves and there should be some more quality games released.

Hi,

I just bought a 42py70 and set it up with a DVD tune up for normal CRTs. Could you inform what settings you used in the normal user menus and what changes you made in the service menu ?

Thanks.

I'm almost decided to go for this TV. I have just one issue:

Is it possible to have black (instead of grey) bars on both sides of a 4:3 non-scaled picture? Grey is too distracting.

Would this produce image retention? How long would it take for this TV to recover from that?

You can alter that in the "Side Panel" function in the Setup Menu... it has 4 levels - High/Mid/Low and Off.  The high setting is all-grey, while the other two are darker greys - and the Off setting is completely black.

You'd only get image retention if you left it on "Off" for hours and hours I'd imagine... and even then it would gradually disappear.

Hope this helps!
