Very important:
I discover that this model has big OVERSCAN (via HDMI) !!!
About 70 pix verically
and 110 pix horizontally.
No pixel to pixel mode (or dot to dot (as Sharp).
It means that wathing Full HD is impossible !!!

did you try to enable the JUST SCAN setting?
change to movie mode and adjust the hdmi options in the sub menus...

let me know

I've searched all posts and read manuals and come to the conclusion:

I can't watch 1080p/24 movies without judder from my PC with pixelmapping (just scan) on the F86?

The manual only mentions ~60Hz output from a PC. (I want a multiple of 24Hz)

The only way around it as I see it, is to make the PC do 3:2 telecine of the 24p movie and then feed that at 60i Hz to the F86 which will do inverse telecine back to 24p again.

If this is the only way, then there's another question. Can the F86 do lossless inverse telecine (60i->24p), or does it ruin the picture with filters at the same time like the M86 did?

Cheers

Do you actually own a F86 and have tried it?  ???

I can tell you, full hd via HDMI looks beautiful and pixel perfect.
Set the tv to 'just scan' and the picture looks great, with 24hz and 50hz, haven't tried the others yet

24hz is too much movie picture for me so 50hz is great for watching 24fps content.
I've been watching 1080p and 720p content and it works perfectly. No adjustments are necessary.

Can anyone help me with this:

I've downloaded the manual for this TV. On page 6 is says the component input can't handle 1080p, but on page 18 it refers to using "Just scan" on a 1080p component input. The review doesn't say either way. Anybody know whether it does support 1080p or not, and if not, is this common to most TV's?

Also, are the letters at the end of the model number significant? I've often seen it referred to as LE40F86BDX or just LE40F86. Any difference, or are they just colour / country codes?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Another call for the settings please, or failing that at least confirmation that they won't be posted ....

My cousin had an F86 delivered this evening but with it being a much higher contrast screen than the M87 he had previously (for which you kindly posted settings - M86) we, obviously, cannot use the same values.

Please could you let us know whether you kept the settings you used for the F86 and, if so, whether you can post them asap please?

A few questions ???

First question
What will the TV do with a 1080i signal coming through component? Will it deinterlace, down scale or display 1080i? (I emailed samsung about this and they never got back to me)

Second question
Is there any difference between the HDMI ports? (stuiped question I know)

Thank you  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi,

Can you acknowledge whether or not you’ll be posting the settings you used to calibrate this set?

Kind Regards

ps I posted this in the comments section, too. But when I returned to the site I couldn't find it again, unfortunately.

Hi Vicent,

I've just joined the forum, since i've been searching on the net for a month or so now. I bought a LE40F86BD and was very pleased with it for a few days. >:(

then i started to notice banding!! i'm now onto my second TV and have started to notice again.  does anyone have any ideas on whats causing it and more importantly how to stop it.

The only input besides the ariel is 1 HDMI from a ps3.

Thanks Barry

24 is too much!!! I almost puked when I read your reply!
Watching 24fps material judder like HELL! Judder is very noticeable! Only use 24hz from PC and TV does the rest!
50 hz only with PAL material (DVD).  8)

Hi,

I have a 40-F86, and connected my PC (Gefoce 6600GT) via DVI to HDMI2 of the TV, set to PC-Mode and "Just Scan". This works fine with 60Hz, but as soon as I set the refresh rate to 50Hz in Windows, the image doesn't fit exactly anymore, some pixels at the edges are just cut off.

So how do I get 1:1 pixelmapping in 50Hz mode?

cu,

Jackie

I have tried this, I only get perfext 1:1 pixel mapping at 60Hz, when I set my videocard to 50Hz or 24Hz, then there is notivable overscan. I have the LE40F86, can you please confirm that you can do "Just scan" with 1:1 pixelmapping with this device at 50Hz?

Thanks alot.
