Vincent, this is a great review for a great tv.
But is it possible for you to do me one favour.
What are in your opinion the best settings for this tv?
Are those:

Viewing: cinema
Contrast: 2 clicks left
Brightness: 1 click left
Colour: 3 cliks right
Sharp: 3 clicks left (hd)
          1 click left (sd)
Colourbalance: warm
Colour management: off
Dnr: Off

Let me know your thoughts.

Best,

Fonz (The Netherlands)

Just to clear something up with the input lag, you say it's 30ms faster than the F96, does that means it's almost 0? which would make it CRT level?

and if so would you expect all this years 1080p Panasonics to have this level of lag?

Which Magazine tested this Tv and reported the following

Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ85B

* Price: £1,300
* Score: 67%
* Type of TV: Plasma

Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ85B

The pricey TH42PZ85 is proof that Panasonic is fallible and this plasma caused a few raised eyebrows at our viewing test. While this 42-inch HD ready 1080p plasma is easy to use, boasts great high-definition pictures and does enough to scrape a Best Buy, we found that standard-definition pictures are a bit of a let down, energy consumption high, and sound quality is below average.

Our tests found that standard definition pictures via RGB Scart suffered from a noticeable green tint, irritating picture noise and some slight bleached and smeary colours. Freeview pictures fared better and Panasonic has cleverly and purposefully made images seem softer to hide some of the limitations of the digital broadcast signal. Excellent resolution and good colour more than makes up for the very minor banding on high definition.

Hi,I have recently took delivery of my Panasonic TH42PZ85B and love it ! but have a few questions.

I agree with the Which review in the noticing of the green tint on RGB scart will tint in the service menu cure this ?

I have just swapped from LCD (couldn't handle the LCD 'problems' anymore ) and the picture seems dull is this because i've switched from LCD or can something be done ?

Does anyone have the Service Menu settings particularly the cure for the cooler/blue on CCT  mentioned by Vincent in the review by adjusting RGB cuts & gains ?

Hi,

can anyone test Greyscale with this (http://www.w6rz.net/ramp.zip) HD 1080p transport stream?
I have TH42PZ80B and I see only 19 grades of grey. On my notebook LCD I can see 21 grades of grey.
It's for me big disillusion.

Hi there,

I finally bought myself a 42pz85B yesterday and so have obviously been playing ps3 and watching blu-ray films for the past 7-8 hours and was as happy as larry until just now when I noticed one of the pixels was not changing i.e. black dot on white background. I put a completely white picture on the screen and have found 3 pixels that remain blue/green and 2 that keep flashing (I then tried various inputs; sky, ps3 etc and the problem remained).

The problem isn't noticeable unless your up close to the screen but surely there shouldn't be a problem at all as it is brand new. Is this a manufacturing fault or is it because I have had it on for a long period??

I have a 14day return available, should I exchange it???

Please advise, thanks
