The 40XF355D price seems to be dropping. I was close to buying but if the Z is imminent I can wait. I was interested in the 100Hz Samsung and Sony, but the Samsung is much wider than the previous model and the Sony is pricey with uneeded glass surround AFAIAC. The XF355 now has the look I prefer but was overpriced compared to the competition. Maybe that's the problem, and could still be if Toshiba are looking for a premium price for a ZF355?

J2001M over on avforums spotted that the ZF brochure is now available on Toshiba's UK website:

http://www.home-entertainment.toshiba.co.uk/consumer/forms.nsf/brochurerequest?openform&section=support

Listed 52", 46" and 40" ZF models.  I guess a launch must be pretty imminent :)

Any news on this Vincent ... had almost settled on the sony 40W3000 and then saw the specs on the 40ZF355, double the contrast and 100hz for not a huge amount more money. Considering the good review you gave of the Z3030 I'd love to see a review of this set.

Btw ... I think your site is fantastic, I stupidly bought a copy of what hifi yesterday for the first time in a couple of years and was amazed to read the lack of information in reviews compared to yours. Keep it up, your service is greatly appreciated, and from what I can tell in the shops ... bang on.

Thanks for your kind words. Toshiba informed me that they are still waiting for their 40ZF355D review sample to come in.

ive noticed that on the toshiba website it says that the zf range is coming soon so it looks like the launch is imminent.  i've also read somewhere that it was releasing on 07/04/08.  may be this is true?

Love the look of this & am realy p***ed off with tosh as I emailed them asking if they where going to bring out a model with the frame of the XF but the flag ship of the Z & they replied no, So I went and bought a 47Z3030D which I love but the XF frame is so sexy.

I saw a 40ZF355D on a stand in Empire Direct's Bradford shop. It wasn't plugged in (on a stand away from power points and video sources). I asked to see it working but the 'assistant' couldn't be bothered to sort it out, so I walked. The £1500 price wasn't particularly conducive, although the website has a more competitive £1199 price and they usually match their webprice. Anyhow they are about now in the UK, just a question of whether the price difference between the ZF and XF is worth it?

any update on a review sample? My money is burning a hole in my pocket and its heading for this or the Sony W4000. Do you even have sight of when a review sample might come in?

the sony is getting great reviews but I'd like to see more detail on the ZF. From a brief test instore I quite liked the Toshibas motion compensation and it might actually be usable on 'smooth' for movies without makign them look like video. And the thin frame is a bonus as I might be able to squeeze in a 46" but be limited to 40" on the Sony

BTW, how do I vote for the next review? I registered for VIP notification but I can't see where I'm supposed to be able to actually vote

Have you checked out the Samsung 6 series? I tried an LE40A656 yesterday and it definitely smoothed out my 1080/25p camcorder footage. The pricing is currently better than the ZF too.

yes, didn't like it - it did turn movies into video, so a little too aggressive for my tastes

I prefer it to 'native' 25p now, the 'judder' on high shutter speeds hurts my eyes, especially on a big screen
