taking over settings
« on: 22 August 2010, 06:35:28 PM »
Is it useful to simply take over the white-balance settings? In reviews, sometimes the used settings are given ( like back light, contrast, etc...).
These can be used  i understand, also as a starting point, given the different lighting conditions at your own house. But are the calibrated white balance settings specific for each television and so should not be used? It will not give the same RGB curve as on the calibrated one in the studio? And so are useless?
I have a 40Z5500 and the one is reviewed on this site. The calibrated whitebalance was( -17,0,0,0,0,-1). On a different site the same tv gets (-1,-5,-1,0,0,0). They also use professional equipment. So what ti do?

The settings are usually unique to the viewing environment. If you do not have access to calibration equipments or someone who knows how to do it, then you should try our published settings and see how it looks.
