Hi. I have recently purchased a Sony KDL37EX403U. I am delighted with the picture and sound, but I have noticed it makes a buzzing noise from the rear of the set. This really isn't loud at all, but can just be heard when there is no sound and I am sitting 2 or 3 m away. It changes in pitch sometimes when the picture goes darker, and is lessened slightly by adjusting the backlight. I have found 5 to be one of the quietest settings. John Lewis sent out a local TV engineer who told me 'they all do that'. Is he right? Or should I change the set? I have had little experience of flat screens and trying to listen to sets in shops is hopeless due to background noise. I have only had it 2 weeks, so not a problem changing it. I am a bit OCD when it comes to unwanted noise(!), but I don't want to swap it for another set that is the same or even worse. I have read on the net that the issue may be an 'inverter' board on the backlight? I would love it fixed if possible as I really do like the set in every other way. I am prepared to go up to 40" if necessary, and did think about trading up to the sony KDL40NX703 led, but that's £800! Yikes! I don't know if LED sets would be silent? I also thought about the 40 inch versions of the model I have, ie the KDL40EX403 or the KDLEX503 (though I don't need 100 hertz). I DO

play xbox games and have heard the KDL403EX40" is a bit sluggish. (I find the set I have fine in that respect). I would like to stick with Sony if possible as I really like the menu system. Any advice would be very gratefully received. I have a couple of weeks to decide what to do!
