I'd never got rid of Pio Kuro 9G, if I had one. I think, it became a valuable piece of AV history now. After all, true classics never get old.

I'm personally interested in any new Plasma display, especially a high end one. Can't wait to review it.

Hi David

I am looking forward to seeing what you make if the Panasinic VT50.  I have owned an LX5090 for about 2 and half years now.

The TV has been fantastic, but I am experiencing the red tint to blacks which people are complaining about on the AV forums.

Have you heard much about this?  It shows up when watching the TV in a pitch black room.  If you are watching a very dull/dark scene in these conditions, the blacks will have a faint red tint to them.  So letterbox bars in 21:9 films will be tinted red.

It seems to be something that materealises when the TV has aged.  Pioneer say it is normal for the technology and have washed their hands of the issue.

Shame because it does spoil what is an incredible TV.  People who own KRP500A/M's as well as US models are displaying it.

Some folks are even accessing the service menu of the TV to manually adjust the voltgaes to cure the tint.

I am still waiting fo the TV that beats the Kuro's because I will probably be selling the Pio because of this red tint and replacing with that TV.

Have you or anyone else got any thoughts?

Looking at what is being said in reviews of the ST, i think the GT & VT could be the ones to take the KURO Crown but who knows? :)

I don't think they'll beat them on black level this year. But they'll be excellent displays all the same.

I saw some info on Kuro 9G, and it suggested that they used fairly expensive components in producing Plasma panel itself, and also they were quite free of energy consumption restrictions. That means, nowadays they might have been struggling to achieve that impressive black levels dealing with power restrictions. And Panasonic can't achieve that quality maintaining medium prices, not charging premium for every conumer-level panel.
Do you think this is the case? I think Kuro may be left unbeaten until OLED-displays finally take over the market. Plasma technology is improving, but prices and restrictions are too.
