thanks for the reply panman40. For the moment i'm keeping my out of the box 1016 firmware.

I already tried updating to 1018 but the brightness problems where so clear and obvious that i called samsung support service. They send a tech and he replaced the motherboard. And now with the factory default firmware the brightness issue's are almost gone. I say almost because in some scenes/cases i still see it but now it doesn't effect your movie experience.

Heads off for the samsung service because they didn't hesitate to send me a tech and all was cost free off course!

Hi Anonymous, I had the F/W brightness issue on my D6900 with F/W 1019. The D8000 and D6900 are definately different regarding F/W . If your on 1015 or 1016 your quite Safe and there is no need to rush to update any further as far as i am aware  ;)

The latest fw doesnt do anything to the image its more support for the CI+ slot on the back of the tele, improves BBC iPlayer connection, better connection for apps and the Smart Hub, and I think there is a new 3D file support.

Anyone know what Samsungs policy is on stuck/dead pixels? I ask as my mate is interested intrying to get a 51" D8000 or D6900. But he wants the information on pixels first.

I looked at the manual and cant see anything about it?  ???

It's not really up to Samsung, in the UK the onus is on the seller to deal with any issues.

In other words, buy it from a shop with a proven track record in good returns: Amazon.co.uk (the best in my experience) or John Lewis.

Sods law I mention this then get pixel problems myself. Going to call Samsung. I bought from Richer Sounds but with the wife being pregnant and about to pop Im going direct to Samsung and seeing if they can offer a quick repair asap as not to stress the wife out too much.   :(
