A very good review from Steve there... got me thinking about sourcing one to test ourselves.

Talking about "Reference Level", a few years ago I tried to source a Kuro KRP-500 from Pioneer to review. The lady in charge told me that all their samples were out, but she could send me a KRP-600 sample which was available then instead. Thinking that the KRP-500 would be more popular/ affordable, and also mindful of the extra space required to accommodate the KRP-600, I turned down her offer.

Of course, a few days later, Pioneer announced their withdrawal from the TV market, and recalled all review samples. Certainly one of my main regrets during my time at HDTVTest...

Warmest regards
Vincent

Hmm i have looked at that review again and i may i add that the KRP still betters the VX in the greyscale ootb and colour and also the KRP can be calibrated to a flatter greyscale and rec 709 so the pio is still that teeny weenie bit better, woo hoo  ;D.

Well i might be a pessimist here but the 1st 2 things i was drawn to in Steves excellent reveiw was the not quite perfect RGB after calibration and the fact he mentioned there could be more Caklibration Controls  :-[.

I was in Currys again today and i must admit the layout they now have in the large screen plasmas display is rather good now, In pride of place was the Sammy PS64D8000, Man i fell in love and would have  :P it if the screen wasn't so hot !! , My wife saw me oggling it and that strange look we get in our eyes, needless to say i was ushered out toot sweet lol

First thing I did with my 64" D8000 was  :P maybe thats how I got my DSE  :D

As for the VX3000 I cant understand how its the new refernece screen when the Kuro still beats it in most areas.  ???

For a pro panel yes its a reference panel but my focus is on the consumer market and for that the Kuro is still King...though for how much longer??
