Hi everybody. :)
I'm a new owner of a Sharp LC40830E from Spain. First of all, sorry for my bad English.
I read this TV set review and I got very surprised with it, because I didn't know anything about such calibration accuracy was needed to enjoy our Sharp Aquos. Nevertheles it's a pleasure to discover I can modify the presets, for I was not totally happy with the image quality.
I hope learn here more about the correct settings for my TV, and I'd very glad to find out how to transcribe the calibration of the HDTVtest review to settings adjustment.

Regards.

Hello again Seibei, just looking again at your post i don't think David has reviewed that model mate, is it specific to the Spanish market as i can't seem to find any reviews of it over here. ???

I think 830 and 831 are the same model; the LC40LE830E is the european standard version, and the Sharp LC40LE831E is an specific model for the UK. But when I was reading the review I realised that both model are similar. IMO there aren't significant differences between them. Anyway, the image configuration menu has the same parameter, that's why I'm expecting David's adjustements  ;D

He is quite busy with a review of the Panasonic 65VT and i am sure when he gets the chance he will post settings for the Sharp. ;)

PS:
Just thinking in the mean time you could download the AVSHD calibration disc which will help with basic settings:

Thanks for the link. There is a lot of stuff here. You open for me a new frontier: "HDTV Calibration, a few hours of hard work an headache"  :D
The question is, will I be able of calibrate my TV set before Spongebob show time starts or before my wife thinks I wasted enough time and recruits me for a more productive housework? :D
I think tonight is the night... Kids in bed, woman in bed too and my dear Sharp and I united for a soireé of colour patterns and greyscales...  8)

David, I can't help thinking the [movie] setting, after adjustment, seems too dim, above all when sunlight images are present. :-[
In comparison, the [user] or [standar] configurations, appears more illuminated, although have quite unreal colors :D
The dilemma is: natural colors but dim light (IMO) vs. altered colors with vivid images...

The movie setting can come as quite a shock if you are used to a very bright image. Is the room you are viewing in particularly bright?
