Active 3d not in full hd?
« on: 07 December 2011, 06:56:46 PM »
Hello

I just spotted this article which says not all Samsung tvs using active 3d keep full hd resolution when in 3d mode
http://www.digitalversus.com/tv-television/investigation-active-3d-tvs-full-hd-3d-guaranteed-a1467.html
Anyone heard about that?
I don't have a 3d tv but this sure looks like a(nother) reason to go with passive 3d

Hi, I did hear that some of the Samsung LCd models that were not capable of Full HD 3D Resoloution. I have had several Passive and active sets. LG's Passive sets give a nice bright 3D image there is no doubt of that , However my latest Samsung Actice plasma shows far more detail in 3D than i ever saw with Passive  :).
Samsung PS59D6900, Pana TX-L37LZD80, Panasonic DMP-BDT310, Pana DMP-BD60, Pana EX78 DVDR, Samsung BD-D5500, Sky HD 1TB, Onkyo HTX22HDX, 5.1, Dali Ikon 1 Centre, Logitech Harmony 900, Harmony 650. Sennheiser RS160 Phones.

Yes, in fact, we were the first to notice this when we reviewed the UE40D6530 during summer:

As the guys from HDTVTEST.co.uk found out in an independent test, there is a very unlikely reduction of the resolution in 3D mode.

So the guys in the German Hifi-Forum started a discussion and first no one wanted to believe it and we tough, that this could only be a mistake or maybe they tested a defective TV. But as it turned out, ANY tested D6x00 pulled down the resolution VERY heavily, no matter if it was 32" or 50".
