Which Wireless Headphones
« on: 11 December 2011, 06:00:45 PM »
I'm looking for a set of wireless phones but they must have a good distance or room to room signal. The issue i have is that my All in one amp does not appear to have a phone socket, I want to listen to Radio from the Skybox which is connected to Amp via optical, this enables the TV to be switched off while doing so.
Any ideas appreciated,
Cheers  :)

Not sure if your Sammy has this option mate but can you turn the display off and just have sound, then you can run the phones direct from the tv's headphone socket without the need to have the picture on. ??? ;)

I must check that out Barry, I also want to be able to listen to CD's from the BD player which is connected to TV via HDMi for Video obviously but another HDMi to the Amp for Sound, Looks like some experimenting is in order !.

Yo !,
Anymore thoughts on wireless headphones peeps ? :), They need to be 'Closed' as they are for when i'm using the Hoover :-[ ??? :D.

Don't want to spend a mint tbh but they would need to have good enough RF to follow me all over a small 3 Bed Semi  8).

Cheers  ;)

Thanks Barry  :), no worries, I think i might struggle to get some that have a good enough RF unless theres like some kind of booster device to plug in in another room or upstairs . :)

I ended up with the Sennhiesser RS160's at £99 from Richer Sounds, I gotta say im well impressed  ;D,

The transmitter is powered from a small phone type charger or you pop in AA's so its portable. The phones take 1 AAA rechargeable in each side (supplied). You then plug the phones to the transmitter to charge them.
I tested them early this morning after all was charged up, I just plugged my old Goodmans MP3 player in using the suplied lead then switched on the base and phones and voila  8). Quality sounds from a very nice fitting pair of phones, I went from my sitting room upstairs into all the bedrooms with no hissing or loss of signal  :o, Love emm  :P :P  ;)

Still loving the Sennhiesers :), I'm just using 2 AA batts in the transmitter now as they apparently last 120 odd hrs  :o, Got them plugged up to my Pana LZD80 in the bedroom now, Once i plug them in the sound on the TV will not auto mute which is useful, All i need do is mute the TV and once the TV 'Headphone Volume' is adjusted its simples and all works sweet as  :D.

The only downside is the fact i have not heard from sennhieser since i sent them a simple Tech question via email  ???.

If your using them for Gaming John i think the 'Turtle beach' ones are made for that with great sounds, downside is they well expensive :(.
The RS170's are Still the 'Closed type' but have a nice 'Base station' that you put the phones on for storage and charging. I went with the 160's specifically as RS were doing them at £99 and the transmitter can take 2 rechargeable AA's or Alkalines and will last 120 hrs  :o. The phones themselves come with 2 rechargeable AAA's or you can use alkalines again, They last on a single charge up to 24 hrs.
I'm now using the short supplied 2.5mm jack-jack lead on my upstairs Panny LCD, I can listen to my fave Capital FM ch through the skybox or a CD via the BD player. I find it more useful to keep upstairs for late night viewing when the mrs is asleep LOL. Also when listening to the Radio i can ear so much more clearly what artists are actually singing !!.

The other habdy thing is tou can slip the transmitter in a pocket with say an MP3 attached and go walking down the street if one desires  ???.
Not even my henry hoover causes any interference to the RF and i can go all over the house and evenjust outside on the patio with no loss of signal  :D.

All in all i would deffo buy them again ;). Damn thats a high reccommendation coming from me  :o :o

Sound awesome!
Was looking for something I can use while watching movies on the sofa. I have my Tritton AXPros for gaming (5.1 surround sound headset  :P)

Might have to have a dabble when I next come across RS.  ;)

I want a pair of them, panman... But I think I cannot resist another look dagger from my Señora similar to that day I suggest I need a wireless headphone for the new TV: she looked at me like I suggested a wife changing  :'( I don't know why but I think she is jealousy of my new acquisition  :D
