Small TV's from CES 2012?
« on: 14 January 2012, 01:48:37 PM »
During the last week I was looking through most of the press releases from the various TV companies for news on new releases in the 26" and smaller range, but basically couldn't see alot.

So if anyone saw any TV's with a HD Freeview/Freesat tuner and internet/network capabilities (Smart TV), please post a model number and/or a link.

Basically I'm looking for a smaller TV for the bedroom and have struggled to find anything that met these requirements, so I've been waiting for this years CES to see if anyone could bring it together in one package.

Theres a 14" CRT that's begging to be put out of it's misery ;)

PS - Is there anyone else's virus program that sounds a warning when going to the main webpage?

That's a great question Skar, i will have a look around to see if there was anything that might suite your requirements. :)

Thanks for that. 20,32 ... I know for a fact the wife will not tolerate a 32" in the bedroom ... hell I only have 32 in the frontroom (Though with the bezel it has on it, I will be able to get a 37" next time).

20" may be a tad small, but I can keep an eye on Sharp, know I know they have something.

TVs below 32" are uasually fitted with cheap TN panel and low-cost video processor. If IQ is vital, it's best not to go below 32".

Skar, Nielo TM brings up very crucial issue. It is absolutely true that manufacturers tend to cut a bit too many corners on TVs below 32" size...
I recently was looking for 26" TV for my relates which does not contain a TN-panel, and finally my choice was Samsung LE26D450 with AUO MVA panel, which has quite nice viewing angles, compared to TN. I'm pretty sure Samsung will do something decent in "less than 32" format in 2012. It seems that a lot of other manufacturers now use only TN panels on sets below 32", which is shame, especially for video-viewing. AFAIK, Samsung uses TN below 26". ;D
PDP in the coffee... Did you see that, Zach? Clear as a crisp spring morning!

The funny thing is, I can't even get the features I would like in one TV, before I even get to worry about screen quality.

I think my thoughts after last years loop around the manufactuers there was the Pana TX-L24E3B, a sony which had the integrated features but no HD tuners.

It's strange that I am willing to spend £350 - 400 on a decent small screen, which a lot of people in normal life would try and get a 42 with (Obviously no one in this forum) yet struggle to find the right product.
