I think, 3D will still be around, at least for a while. Once the 3DTV performance and 3D-material gets more consistent, 3D viewing is definitely going to be a great addition to the experience.
I'm looking forward for 3D gaming, since I already have quite a lot of PS3 games with 3D-support. Maybe I'll join the 3D club, if I manage to get 50ST50 or something similar this year.

Honestly, I wouldn't miss it.

2D images are much nicer looking, and for me at least, there is no must-have content that screams to be seen in 3D.

Get 3D images up to the same level of quality as 2D and I'll be more interested...

I'm not a Gamer myself :o, I must admit apart from Avatar and Resident Evil i am not struck with real 3D films. Animation is right up my alley :o and i love it  :P

Oh, you're right, I prefer watching movies in perfectly tuned 2D, rather than 3D or pseudo-3D, which is often the case. But as a gamer, I found it quite immersive to play games like Motorstorm in 3D - the feeling of vehicle trajectory becomes just great in 3D and definitely adds to the experience. I also witnessed some spectacular documentary 3D-content, it was nicely shot to show effect at work, but I can't see if this is really needed in each and every movie. Again, it's all up to the content. If sometimes it proves to be a nice addition, then let there be some 3D.

Well after reading about 3D ay CES on AVF tonight it would seem that 3D is a passing Fad, I reckon there will be a lot of very Angry customers that invested in new 3D capable TV's / BD players and even 1.4 Capable 3D Amps to pass it through ? .

I for one won't be impressed thats for sure .

With 3D, my moods usually go like this:

(Feb/March/April comes around):
"Hmm, 3D. Let's see what they've improved....

Wow, the greyscale tracking is much better! This is a big improvement! The depth is actually pretty cool... little bit dark though"

Then I make the mistake of pressing the 2D button and seeing the improved brightness, gradation, and in some cases, resolution...

I see what your Saying, I agree that colour / greyscale i find very difficult to setup with any 'Real 3D' and i prefer the 2D versions, With Animation or CGI though i have found some very good Settings. yep there is quite a heavy brightness Drop with Active 3D and i would certainly not want to watch it in the daytime (or curtains Open) but then being a Plasma i can't watch 2D in daytime light either .

I loved the Passive 3D of the LG's for the extra brightness but i find the extra Resoloution of the Sammy Plasma makes up for it  8).

3D is not dead its just now a extra feature of a tv.
This years focus is Smart Tv, 3D is still there but it seems companies are pushing smart tv as I think it will provide some extra cash for there very deep pockets from the likes of companies that want there media streaming service on these smart tvs.
