How long after CES before TV's arrive in UK
« on: 06 February 2012, 08:56:46 AM »
Good morning all,

I appreciate that each manufacturer is different, but what's the general rule of thumb for the UK.

I have an old bedroom TV (CRT), which is about to consigned to the waste bin, with the switch from analogue, and as I have mention in an older thread I'm looking for an upto 26" (Wife has veto powers) TV for the bedroom.

I have looked at the 2011 TV's and struggled to find something suitable, so was basically trying to hold out for the 2012 range. A S2 and T2 receiver would be ideal, but I agree that I would be unlikely to get both in a TV <= 26".

Hmmm... good question. We tend to see new stuff from Panasonic and Samsung in March-April-May.

Feel free to send me PMs if you need to, but please don't post the same question on the forum and in the PM. I don't have the time to respond twice, so please post in the main forum only - it'll usually get a faster response. Thanks!

I think I can hold out for 2 more months, given I have waited a year already.

At the moment the new Bravia 26" EX5 looks the most suitable TV, but given that I still don't have a definitive specification, it may again fall short.

I have noticed with the Samsung TVs, in the <= 26" range, that they are all listed as like Series 4/5, which if my understanding is correct, they haven't been refreshed in the about 4 to 5 years. I thought that each year Samsung increased the Series number, so last year was series 8, this year will be series 9.

I think the Samsung Badging stays the same each year ;), ie a 2010 Samsung C'6'80  became the Samsung D'6'900 etc so both are 6 series but have been revamped :)

In fact, it's not digit, it's a letter that describes series. If you pay attention, 4/5 Series progress with A->B->C->D and now it's going to be E for 2012. The digits indicate position between budget and top-end models, and the letter stands for lineup year.
