lg42pt85 screen problem
« on: 18 May 2008, 01:05:28 PM »
Hi all can anyone help me? I bought this tv fromj empire direct in dec in january they had to swap it as it was faulty, the top left hand corner of the screen was staying grey all the time. After 3 months or so when showing a black screen the right hand side shows black and the left hand side of the screen is grey.Lg then picked it up and repaired it and left me with no tv for a week,it was returned to me with scuff marks and scrathes on the fascis.I reported this and it was basically ignoredas nothing was done about it.Approx 4 days after gettin it back the same problem re-appeared,i contacted empire direct who again picked it up for testing which again left me with no tv,it's now entering the second week of testing and they are telling me theres nothing wrong with the set.But surely on a black screen i shoulod only see the colour black.I'm absolutely livid at the level of both product reliability and customer service i've received from both lg and empire direct so far. Please can anyone advise me on what to do as i just seem to be getting pissed about somewhat?

You could always try running a white-wash for a few hours. Go into the menu and choose "option" when in there find "ISM Method" and change it to "white-wash". Press the "ok" button on your remote - you should see the entire scree go bright-white. Leave the screen like that for 2-4 hours before exiting. I would then use low power mode and change the ISM Method to Orbiter (this will make the whole picture shift a number of pixels around the screen every few minutes to help prevent screen burn). You will probably need to run the white-wash every couple of weeks for at least 2 hours. This will help keep an even black tone on the screen.

Hope this helps  ;)
