Pioneer Kuro Brightness

i went to my local store, and noticed that the kuro didnt deliver bright images, and it was really dim and unattractive. does it stay this way even after calibration?

What were you comparing it to? Although LCD's are generally a bit brighter, in my experience all of the showrooms have the contrast set at 100% and brightness also set very high for the LCD's. I have been watching my 428 for a few months now, the settings are straight from the box and the picture in both SD and HD are fantastic.

TV's in showrooms are generally set foar too bright and vivid for viewing for more than a few minutes, especially in a "shop window" sunlit situation.

The Kuro 500 has a colour sensor which (inoptimum mode) adjusts the brightnes and colour to look right in the lighting of the room- and it seems to work.
