Projectors / Re: Projector Screen ?

I think spending money on light control in the room - that is, blacking out the ceiling and walls near where the screen is going to go with non-reflective fabric or other material - is more important than the quality of the screen.

Can anyone help with this question from Cult Labs Forum:

"  We're looking at doing an extension to our house, which will be a bigger lounge room for the Mrs & I.
I'd like to put a projector in there, with a 100" screen. It will need to be a roll up screen, which will come down over the front of our plasma, which we'll use for casual viewing. Any ideas on what to look for in a screen? The projector I'm looking at is an Epson TW-6100. Distance from pj to screen will be about 3.6 metres. Any suggestions or opinions greatly appreciated, as I know next to nothing about projector set ups.
Lincoln. "

Cheers. :)
Is it going to be a light controlled room, i'd recommend a Beamax screen, cheapest quality screens on the market, probably around £180 - £250 for a decent pull down screen from them, it will be 106 inches though.

I have a couple questions please.

Over a couple of years I have read a lot about samsungs cell light V's Contrast for light output, some say that max cell light should be used and contrast then adjusted for desired light output. Then there's the other camp saying its best to use cell light as a global way off getting the desired output instead.

I have also heard that parts of a calibration do not respond as well as they could (namely 10 point WB) if contrast is not set at least 90 on Samsung plasmas.

So when I eventually calibrate my new panel on my D6900 would I be best to set contrast at 90 (providing there's no tint at that point)  then drop cell light right down to my preferred light output ?.

Thanks for any tips on this  :).

:chin: I am not sure about the answer to this one Martin?

It would be great to know for sure Barry, if its really true that the Samsung plasmas do not function properly below 90 contrast we would have a head start calibrating these beasts  ;), if it was to bright its just a matter of lowering Cell light. Its a tricky one indeed but it would be awesome to have a 100% definitive answer  :worthy:  :).

Maybe David or one of the lads can help out with this one? ???
