I've just bought the 37" model of this & after 4 days don't quite know what to make of it. In some respects it's brilliant but in others the 10 year old 28" Sony Trinitron it replaced beats it hands down.

At times the picture is stunning but at others it's very poor, namely live motion. I've followed beat advice for motion plus settings but I am still very disappointed with the result, football players are just a shadowy blur compared to my old set.

You're not alone... most people who are "upgrading" from CRTs to LED/LCD TVs will notice significant motion blurring, because the CRT technology has almost no motion blur. Even plasma, which is designed to mimic CRT, exhibits some degree of motion blurring. In terms of motion clarity, CRT > plasma > LCD with motion-compensated frame interpolation (e.g. 100Hz, 200Hz, 400Hz, etc.) > LCD without MCFI.

Bottom line is, motion blur on LCDs is something you have to get used to, especially if you're migrating directly from the CRT camp. Among the current crop of flat panels, plasmas deliver the least motion blur.

I'm also not quite sure how to connect my 6 year old Sony DVD. This unit has no Scart socket so do I need a rgb/audio component lead with 5 pins both end to connect to the supplied Samsung 5 pin connector? I can't seem to find these & am unsure if 5 pin to HDMI would work?

Does your Sony DVD player do component out? We haven't had a look at the UE37D6530, but if its inputs are the same as the UE40D6530 which we reviewed, there should be a component breakout cable that ships with your D6530, with which you can use to connect five component cables (red, blue, green, left audio, right audio) from the DVD player to the TV.
