tele1962, yup, we have. Although there are very few of them due to different reasons, which I would like to uncover. Main of them being that people just don't know what the hell is this "combina..." oh man, I mean "celebra..." *whadduyacallit* Oh, right! The "ca-li-bration" it is! They don't give a damn about calibration and the whole reason of it. People just go to the net and try to find some, umm, "right" presets. But of course, there just isn't a "right" preset for a particular TV set model, because each of them needs to be calibrated individually. More than that, you can't calibrate with your eyes unless you are a Hubble or something. You'll probably be amazed, but I've met people who absolutely seriously tried to calibrate their TV with bare eyes through a service menu. Needless to say, their picture went "weird" at some point (more like it was killed in a process of "eye-calibration"), and minimum that they finally achieved was a need for a factory reset. Maximum, though - a trip to customer service with a fairy-tale about "TV suddenly gone mad" and "please fix it on guarantee terms".
Well, that was the first reason - let's call it a "human factor".
And second reason being very plain and simple: there aren't many calibration specialists here, nor the good hardware for calibration, because it's quite expensive even for professionals. In the end this whole service isn't profitable - you get the expensive hardware, but people are not prepared to pay significant money for this service. From what I heard, some decent calibration specialist in Moscow charges around 300 for full TV calibration with nice hardware. There aren't many people who are willing to pay that, even if they know the main point of calibration.
Other reasons: VERY crappy (and I mean it) TV broadcasting, very common piracy, when people download ripped DVD/Blu-Rays with modified picture - what's the point of calibration to industry's standards, if you use such signal source?
So, as you can see, most of our people are going to discover the thing behind calibration only in future.

Hello everybody.
My apologies for not to came here first and make a formal introduction before posting on another threads.

I'm Seibei, I'm from Spain and I found the HDTVtest website and then this forum, looking for a good image adjustement for my new Sharp 830 (831 in UK, I think). I liked too much David McKenzie's review on this model so I'll stay in the neighborhood if you accept me.

Regards.

LOL. :o
You know, when a mate is always up for a beer or two... or another three-four-five. ;)
For he is a mate, and thus has some responsibilities in friendship. Like fightin' along your side with that never-ending beer in Red Lion, for God's sakes. 8)
