Panasonic TX-P50GT50
« on: 12 December 2012, 10:39:29 AM »

1147 from the very nice people at the Staines Panasonic retail store, can get it a smidgeon cheaper elsewhere, however this package includes the following:
  • 6 year warranty
  • 2 x 3D glasses
  • Blu Ray Player (DMP-BDT120)
  • 2 Blu Ray movies (Avatar & Titanic)
The glasses and films are via online redemption. The temptation proved too much for me, and I purchased it, thus ending my 5 year search for a large screen HDTV.

At moment I'm still getting used to transitioning from a 32" lcd to a 50" plasma. 8) Was going to go for the ST, but the GT was only 150 more, so it was a bit of no brainer.

Have noticed some issues around fast pans, including some dynamic false contouring, but what can you do. The only alternative for me was the Samsung PS51E6500. It has a better SmartTV experience (e.g. PLEX and LoveFilm), and costs only 700. However the Panasonic has markedly superior blacks. So I don't regret spending 450 more on the Panny, but I am annoyed at them!
