Just wondering and this is a big ask.........will we have an OLED display in the shootout. :o
It might be challenging, since LG postponed the US release again. It would be a miracle if it shows up on the Shootout. Very interested to see the results in comparison to other competitors.

It would be really nice to have a  3rd quarter side by side with the 2013 winning panel, as most Manufacturer's introduce their Top tier product line and Biggest screens. late in the year usually showing up in Late Aug. early Sept. (here in the states, anyway) It would a fair evaluation of all panels available.
Robert had mentioned doing something similar 2010, but it never materialized, unfortunately ...

Since I've had a lot of folks asking if the ZT60 will be included in our 2013 Flat Panel Shootout, I will confirm that it will be included.

I can't announce all of the models that will be in the Shootout, but the 65" ZT60 will be a contestant.

I'll also have the VT60 in the Shootout, and it will be butt up to the ZT60 and Samsung F8500.

Let the games begin....

Just watched Ron Fricke's Samsara on Blu, this really would make excellent demo material for the Shootout.  :worthy:

Can anyone help Robert out with his dilema:

members I need your advice about an important decision pertaining to our Shootout evaluation event. Here's my dilemma...

I had planned on putting in Sony's HX950, but unfortunately Sony has discontinued that model. So our choices are the 4k UHD X900A or Sony's highest end 1080p full HD W802A.

The dilemma is that the Shootout has only flagship series, but if we put the X900A it will be the only 4k UHD panel in the event and that's kind of unfair to all of the other displays.

My tentative decision is to put the highest-end W802A 1080p on the Shootout wall to compete with all of the other 1080p displays, but to also have the 4k UHD X900A on an adjacent wall just to show it off and do a brief comparison with the same Shootout wall content, but not to include it in the Shootout evaluation.

I can't post on AVS Forum or HDJ, but I will post this on HTS and HDF as I would love to have as many a/v enthusiasts' feedback as possible.

Thanks for your help.

-Robert

But W802 Is NOT the high end model from Sony, that's no fair...W902A is the High End in 1080p
Yesterday on Lima, Perú we had a Sony Open House introducing 2013 line and 1080p W905a was the High End Model and looks better than W805A:

Don't think the W900A will make it in time for our event date.  I'll keep checking.

Robert,
My opinion: I would include the highest-end 1080p display that Sony make available.

Robert could you include The Sharp Elite too? Is probably the best LCD/LED ever made and it will be interesting versus against Samsung F8000, Sony W802 or 902 and LG LCD/LED.

Sadly they are none available in the US and Sharp stopped production.

Don't think the W900A will make it in time for our event date.  I'll keep checking.
I think it won't be in time... At least European flagship W905 won't be available until June.
From what I've seen, the W8 is about the same except for Triluminos backlight with quantum dots on W9.
That would make W9 very interesting on Shootout, as wide color gamut may introduce some issues with calibration. Same goes for new red phosphor on Panasonic VT/ZT60, though.

I think it would be fair to include the whatever Sony display which comes at a size and price about the same as other competitors. If 4K is comparable at stores, why shouldn't it be comparable at Shootout showfloor? Still, I think W905 would be a perfect match.

P.S. Thank you very much for holding this amazing event, Robert! I'd like to express my deepest gratitude to you and all the Shootout members. Keep up the good work!
