A fantastic review of the TV with the right amount and relevant scientific analysis for the general buying public....helped to made up my mind when I first saw your first UK review of the W905a. I don't have to get a second opinion! I did read Home Cinema Choice on their W905a review but it was much much later.

I part/exchanged my HX853 with the the new W905a.The latter is a better TV, the viewing angle is tighter on the VA panel but who would sit off centre, not me....I certainly have not had issues with it personally.

More importantly, my first impresssion of the the Triluminos quantum dot technology is that it really works with XY colour wide color space material.....all my DSLR photos, and HD Camcorder videos looks so VIVID.....ITS LIKE HAVING A NEW SET OF 20/20 VISION. Reds are just eye poping on the medium live TV setting! I could not look at another non triluminous set.

Without the Triluminous tech, I probably would not have changed the TV from the HX853..a sweet taste of OLED with the colours the W905 can offer. Sony is offering a free Z experia phone...so that sweetens the extra cost.   ::)

Any chance of reviewing W6 soon? That's the only one in my price range and I'm very interested in the input lag and 4:4:4 chroma support since I wanna use it as a PC monitor

I have just got the 42" W6 and can confirm it will support 4:4:4 on PC using the game scene mode and either game standard or game original picture presets. The input lag is also very low and it beats the 32" samsung i had which was rated at 20ms stopclock and 28-29 ms leo bodnar. My camera is not the best and i am not certain of the lag my laptop gives out but it feels low and when i did many measurements the W6 beat it on many occasions. The samsung never ever beat the laptop at all and usually lags some.
Another great feature of the W6 is the LED motion setting which can be turned on even while in games picture presets. It dims the image somewhat so i maxed out the backlight and turned the gamma up 3 notches compared to the settings i use with the motion setting off and it gives a comparable image for shadow detail etc just dimmer. With it turned on you get plasma levels of motion resolution while playing a PC game at 60fps but with some slight double image ghosting which in general you don't really notice most of the time as the double imaged part is like a see through ghost not as strong as the original image and with complex 3d graphics you don't spot it much unless you go looking for it. It sure beats heavy blur. Playing grid 2 at the moment and as you turn corners you get no blur at all, brilliant. Tried shooters and 3rd person games like tomb raider and it works so well. The lag does not feel worse either with it on but i have not measured it to confirm. I have also checked for smearing blacks etc and have not spotted any on the tests i have done, if there is any it is very minimal, the pixperan tests passed with flying colours.
The greyscale, color, blacks are all great and all in all this is a superb gaming screen. Not got any clouding either. :)

^^ Great stuff... sounds like the W6 is using a VA panel then? Sony has really hit homeruns with great gaming TVs this year.

Warmest regards
Vincent

Just got hold of a Leo Bodnar input lag tester to measure my 42" W6 and the results are amazing. Measured 15.5 ms  and with led motion turned on got 20.95 ms.
These results were obtained by measuring all three flashing bars and averaging the results. Can't believe it and really pleased unless this can be beaten next year this screen will be my gaming screen for many years to come.

hello guys, I thought about buying Sony KDL-40R470. Anyone knows whats the input lag of this tv? I cant  find a review anywhere. I do not need 3d or smart tv, only a cheap tv with good picture quality and low input lag, I think this tv will be the ideal for me. can Someone help me?

I know it's probably a matter of calibration but today I see a 46R470 next to a samsung f8000 and motionflow by part, in terms of color sony was much better, more natural skin tone.

when the vendor was setting up sony, i thought that samsung would kickass sony far but the funny thing is that sony endured well and if it was not for the prices showing under the tvs ,a casual customer would not notice that he was comparing a flagship samsung with the cheapest model of sony for 2013

Hi Vincent,
Can you please tell us, if the "low" setting on the local dimming feature was more agressive than standard on HX85 last year? I have calibrated the HX820 last weekend and standard setting was unusable, because it totally screwed the gamma curve. HX850s standard setting for dimming is much better in this regard.
How about the HX905? Was is possible to achieve +/- linear gamma with the "low" setting? Did the low setting caused weaker shadow details?

Can you please remember what was the difference between Motion Flow Off and Motion Flow @True Cinema setting? Better fluidity or even motion resolution @24p?
Thanks

Really enjoying my w9. Blacks stay pure black during the day. The active 3D is amazing. I would go as far as to say the best Ive tried, its not harsh on the eyes and gives plenty of pop. Amazing. :)
