I agree, David, but I will also say that a game like The Last of Us doesn't really need 60 fps... I had no problems with 720p@30 fps on the PS3 version, and playing in 1080p@60 fps now on the PS4 Remastered version, I can't say that 60 fps feels a million times better for this game. You can lock it at 30 if you wish which, arguably, gives it a more cinematic feel. I do prefer the 60 fps, though, but the biggest improvement over the PS3 version I feel is by far the increase in texture-/lighting-/general graphical quality, rather that the increased frame rate and resolution :)

That game is easily rendered at 1080p@60 fps on the PS4, though, since it's just a Remaster. But yeah, if the trade-offs for the increase in frame rate and resolution aren't monumental, 30 fps is not really acceptable anymore... In general. A game like BF4 feels a lot better at 60 fps than at 30 fps, even though I never complained about the 30 fps in BF3. Destiny, which sucks, is only 30 fps and after playing BF4, it always took me some time to get used the lower frame rate again.

For VA / IPS going beyond 60 Hz will result in lags because the refresh rate of this type of LCD is not fast enough to react.

120 / 144 + only for TN without lags unfortunately.

So for now with LCD a good IPS or VA at 60 Hz will provide the best option.

The fluidity of the game is very important and to me 60Hz is the minimum i would accept.
However PS4 games are not locked at 60 Hz 1080p.

Sorry, mate, but my best recommendation would be to return it for a new one... A bit of a PITA, but less so than having the disc drive crap out completely right after the warranty expires :P Or having it damaging discs :-[

You know you can back up saves online, right? :) (Not sure if a PS+ subscription is required for that, though)

Btw, anyone who likes speed and a good challenge should definitely check out a PS4 (and ps3/PC?) game called "Race The Sun"! I got it on sale the other day for about 3-4, and it was worth it. Holy shit this game is fast. Took me a little while to get into it, but once I did it was great... Good fun and a bit of a thrill :)

Yes your right mate. Going to return it tomorrow....after all this cost the thick end of 300 why should we be trying workarounds. :)

PS
You had anything like this with yours?

Exactly, for 300 it had bloody well work as intended

No, not with my PS4, but I've had two PS2's gone bad, one Nintendo DS Lite where the touch started glitching randomly, and of course the Red Ring of Death on an Xbox 360 - Some time ago now  All were returned within warranty (just the normal "warranty" provided by consumer law, is that called a "warranty"?) for new ones, though...

Like my Panasonic G20 :chin: Man, I seem to get all the faulty ones :P

Edit: Apparently, not all the faulty ones ::) Good luck, m8, it should be an easy return ;)

Just contacted the store, no problem they will exchange it.....just need to source some stock. I have a feeling this is a common problem. :chin:

Interesting article:

http://gadgetshow.channel5.com/news/next-gen-gaming-60fps-battle-explained
Glad to see the mainstream finally pay attention to this. I used to read total nonsense on gaming forums like "the human eye can't see above 24fps"  (Guess my brain needs a higher bandwidth chip?)

I can't accept 30fps on new games unless there's a really, really good reason.

This is the reason I went back to pc gaming. 60fps is soo nice :)

Ok, its a little more expensive, but yeah it's much more fun :)
