Panasonic claims at its CES 2014 press conference that its new AX800 4K LED TVs will deliver similar picture quality to plasmas. We'll believe it when we see it...

http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/ax800-201401063559.htm

Also, no sign of OLED from them. :(

Warmest regards
Vincent

Very bold statement indeed. I assume this means that at the very least we'll see a return of proper backlit TVs.

It probably means full array with local dimming. (or to make them cheaper they use zones like Toshiba this year)

Unbelievable, Panasonic might have just done it. David has had a look at the company's new 4K LED prototype, and said that its PQ is as close to plasma as he's seen from an LCD:

Prices dictate everything in the end.
Low prices = more market share, but less for others.

They look nice sets , 1500 for a 77"  :o, if only they had 3D

If only it was curved OLED 120" and the price was 1$ with life time warranty, and it didn't consume any energy.

Check this out: http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/vizio-rs120/4505-6482_7-35833922.html
It looks really good with full local dimming, 120Hz support, almost full Rec.2020 gamut (first time I've seen this on TV), etc.
This Vizio Reference line looks more interesting than Panasonic's current 2014 offer. :P
It would be cool to include this TV on Shootout.
