UK broadcasters have a " Press Red Button " facility which allows you to view say multiple football games of your choice using a on screen menu that pops up and stays there.

You can clear the "Press Red" thing by pressing the Green button.
Hopefully it goes away for you soon.

Lovely that BBC cares so much about its viewers equipment.

I'm not sure. I'd hope so.
I've not seen an actually burned plasma in years (except at airports) but other people's mileage has varied...

Barry, do you remember when I first started DIY calibrating and that meter used to lock up constantly ?, well I was sometimes around 4 hrs just to get through on my sammy plasma, this gave me IR from that damn hdmi source logo in the top right corner and on one occasion took over a week of normal viewing to wash away.  ;).

Yep, I had IR from the ammo counter in Call of Duty MW on my G20 for quite some time. I remember being shit-scared because it took probably close to a month for it to clear away completely  I had been playing A LOT of CoDMW on my new plasma  I've had IR from other things too, Barry, on my G20/G30/VT60 for varyin amounts of time, but it's allways gone away (except for a pause logo on my G30, since I never gave a crap and just kept it on... I think it might have gone away now that my mother has had it for a while. I'll be sure to check later on! :))
I have some IR from the "Discovery HD Showcase" logo, which is really only visible on bright white stuff, and that's been there for a while now... I watched a lot of recorded Ultimate Survival when the VT60 was new :) I'm sure it will clear away sooner or later.

 And now it's gonna pop up under certain apl's/colours and you'll be rubbing your eyes, asking yourself if it is BURNED forever and keep looking for it and obsessing until you are really only doing that whenever watching TV. Until, one day, it is truly GONE and you can't find it... Then you'll have a period of looking for a "phantom" IR ( :chin:), fearing that it might "all of a sudden pop up in the middle of a critical moment and ruin an entire movie! :bash:" if you stop looking... And then, finally, you will get fed up and feel a bit stupid for worrying so much in the first place, and you'll probably never see it again :P

That's about how it went the first couple of times I had proper gaming-IR on my first PDP, anyway...
