L74
True local dimming, passive 3D and a CEVO picture engine, as well as Toshiba’s Cloud Smart TV platform with TV apps such as Netflix.

May use IPS instead of VA panel.

There is a possibility that Toshiba used AU Optronics VA panel with passive 3D.

Oh wow, finally affordable FALD LED TVs. The only FALD LED TVs I can think of are the high end Sony TVs (which at least for me aren't affordable).

How's the panel quality in general on Toshiba TVs?

Take a look here, avforums praised the screens at CES 2014.

http://forums.hdtvtest.co.uk/index.php?topic=8295.msg38807#msg38807

This year Toshiba made many of the components in house. So we should expect a strong comeback in the TV department.

If they also fixed their smart platform like they say, and come with 2 x 15W labyrinth speakers should be very competitive vs all other major brands.

Very curious what panels they use. They did have some models that never reached the market in the past with AU Optronics VA panels with passive 3D : http://www.avforums.com/threads/any-passive-3d-tv-that-doesnt-have-lg-ips-panel.1643725/

AU Optronics new panels called AMVA+ have quite a good viewing angle compared to a year ago. Can be seen in monitors like GW2760HS, EW2740L etc.

The prices have no competition indeed.

The L64 does not have CEVO engine because it doesn't have 3D.

I'm looking at this: http://ces.cnet.com/8301-35303_1-57616634/toshiba-ces-2014-tvs-full-array-local-dimming-4k-and-clouds/#ixzz2ppDQzqgh specifically about the refresh rate and how many of those models have 120Hz and 240Hz refresh rate. Do they truly have a higher than 60Hz or is it still one of these internal processing techniques? As in if I were to run a computer program at 120 frames per second, would the TV show each frame without doing some wonky internal image processing?

Hello Toshiba Team,

I have some question, if you could answer them it would be great.

L74
http://www.toshiba.co.uk/press/releases/toshiba-l74-series/

1. What does AMR+ 1500 (Active Motion & Resolution) mean, and what is the actual panel refresh rate ?
2. What panel type does the L74 line uses, VA or IPS ?
3. What is the difference in terms of audio and speakers from L74 to L64
4. What does CEVO™ Picture processing technology do ? Is is related to the 3D capabilities of L74 that are missing on L64 ?
5. Is there any anti reflection coating and what is the difference between L74 and L64, L54, L3 ?

To be fair, whoever were to read (if at all) your email probably wouldn't even know the answers.

Here's interview with Hiro Nishioka by AVForums:
http://www.avforums.com/interview/premium-2k-toshiba-think-theres-still-a-strong-market-for-full-hd-tvs.10343

I've actually met Nishioka-san at Toshiba's local event. He's really passionate about picture quality, it's so rare to see a guy in industry who's both good at understanding the market and how the TV thing actually works. I wish there was more of such people in TV staff at various companies. We'd be seeing low input-lag and high-contrast screens all day.

John lewis has the L7453 in stock.
For the 55" it's only £1099.99.
Due to my recent surgery active 3D is a no go but I'm fine with passive so I may sell the W9 and go for this.
Then again I may hang fire for there 4K sets. If the input lag is low on them with great upscaling, PQ, hdmi 2.0 and hevc codec I might have a dabble. But the price will have to be right.
One thing is I do really love the image on my sony so I may migrate that upstairs if i upgrade.
