I'd heard that we may not see the LG OLED's in this country at that size.  :'(

Hope I'm wrong.

In fact, my worry is that LG pull the OLED plug altogether, like Samsung seem to have.  The Samsung OLED has disapeared from my local John Lewis and it is the curved LED's doing the rounds now.
I spoke with a few TV managers in local LG office. They're pretty confident that LG will continue to support OLED and expand the product line with more TV sizes.
Given they launched 55LA970V model for this year with massive pricecut, things may be quite positive. Its price is about 30% lower than its predecessor with slight cosmetic differences.
I doubt they would cut 1/3 if the production still was not quite effective. :chin:
And by being the only company with OLED, they basically own the whole segment in their hands. It's a good headstart when competitors will finally arive later.

My omptimism has now returned!

Now, if we could just get them to put Active 3D technology into the OLED's instead of Passive!   ;D

Oh, I fear that would be next to impossible, given how hard they marketed a passive 3D...
But here's good news: it looks great on 4K/UHD displays, which inherently are able to resolve more information even with polarizing filter.
I prefer Active 3D on Full HD sets, but after looking at some UHD TVs with Passive 3D I had nothing to complain.
I think 4K OLED TVs with Passive 3D will be very good to look at, since I liked it even on IPS. Which I usually hate am not very fond of. :-[

I also found passive 3D very impressive on the 84" UHD LG display I saw, and I didn't see any drawback besides resolution loss (which is nonexistant on a 4K set). The lack of crosstalk is actually priceless IMO, coming from a GT60 plasma. One thing I've been wondering though: would it be possible with a passive set to convert 3D 24p/25p/30p material into 48i/50i/60i, thus maintaining the resolution?

Regarding the shootout, the ZT60 stealing the show is a nice surprise. I think it says a lot about what LG needs to improve in its oled displays (mostly motion clarity).

I wonder how things with PWM OLED are going, because Samsung teamed up with Oculus VR, and their latest samples use PWM-driven 1080p OLED screens.
That would be the best of two worlds from OLED and PDP, I suppose...

Could you clarify what you mean with PWM, it doesn't seem to make sense for an OLED to work that way.

Curved tv's are useless IMO unless they are massive, even a 65" has the "pincushion effect" at a decent veiwing distance. I will take a 60" flat Oled when the price is right and the tech ironed out so its reliable.
